The Korean Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) is an area that is placed between North and South Korea to act as a boundary to split up the two countries. The DMZ spreads roughly 155 miles (248km) long and 2.5 miles (4 km) wide. Because of its size and the constant tension between the two countries, it is considered the most heavily militarized border in the world.
